Conrad Wilhite's Children

1A2A - Adam, b. ca 1758 Culpepper Co, VA:. Batey (or Patey).  Adam

          apparently moved to east TN (then NC) with his father Conrad, prior

          to 1782 as Adam Willheit received a land grant from NC dated Sept

          29, 1783 (#2887) for 200 acres of land in Greene Co.  This land was

          surveyed Jan 7, 1787.  Adam received several other land grants in

          Greene, Hawkins, & Jefferson Counties, with the last dated march 5,

          1798, in Jefferson Co.  However, land grant #350, dated March 8,

          1793, on Beaver Dam Creek, Hawkins Co, was recorded April 11, 1808

          in Knox Co, TN. 

 

       Extensive research indicated the following are probably the children of

       Adam:

            MaGhee.  Solomon Willhight was issued Specie for 16 pounds and

            four shillings in Sullivan and Washington Counties. dated June 12,

            1783 (NC Revolutionary War Accounts, Specie #1870).  Solomon

            made his will March 6, 1824, which was probated Greene Co, TN

            April 1824.  Catherine died 1842.  Solomon mentioned the

            following children in his will:

         Hise.  In 1796, Julius Wilhoit and Annanis McCoy were registered

         Chain Carriers surveying Powell's Valley, in present day Campbell Co,

         TN.  According to the unpublished Garr manuscripts, Julius died in

         1842 (probably Campbell Co) and had 18 children of which 15 are

         listed:

          Catherine Broyles, b. ca 1722, daughter of John and Ursula Broyles.

          On July 26, 1744  Adam bought 200 acres of land from Jacob and

          Conrad Broyles (sons of John Broyles, deceased), their portion of

          their fathers estate.  His will is dated Mar 20, 1763 and was

          witnessed by John Wayland, William Eastman and Jacob Broyles,

          Adam and Nicholas Broyles were named as executors.  This will was

          probated July 21, 1763 (Culpepper CO, VA.  W.B.A. pg. 338).  His

          estate was appraised by William Walker, Ephraim Rucker, Aug 17,

          1763. The total evaluation being 23.8.7 (Culpepper W.B.A., pg 341).

                         425).  This was the last mention of him in Virginia, so

                         we assume that he emigrated to Grandville Co, NC for we

                         find he was granted land on Sandy

                         Creek, May 1, 1761 (now Franklin Co.)  Phillip made his

                         will March 6, 1801 which was probated the same year in

                         Franklin, NC. In his will he list the following children:
