Your web site is great but I need to point out a small error under children of Tobias and Catherine. Your outline skips to granchildren, the children of Michael. Would like to see children of Tobias including Mary who is reported to be married to Cyrus Broyles, my ancestor. Do you agree with this analysis that Mary was the daughter of Tobias? Thanks so much. Great site "Children of Tobias and Catherine: 1A1 - Michael, b. ca. 1735,d. ca. 1804, m. ca 1756 Mary Shirley: children 1A1A - Gabriel, m. Nancy Simms; Revolutionary War 1A1B - James 1A1C - Michael 1A1D - Elizabeth, m Mr. Spicer 1A1E - Agnes, m. Mr. Coginhill 1A1F - Frances, b ca 1767, m. Thomas Lucas 1A1G - Nancy Ann, m. Matthew Hawkins 1A1H - Sarah, m. Mr. Green 1A1I - Mary, m. Joel Wilhoite, son of Matthais and Mary Ballenger Wilhite"

Thank you for the research you have done for this branch of the Willhoit (my grandmother's spelling) clan. My grandmother was Bonnie Willhoit Stevens, father Emanuel Willhoit, father, Samuel Willhoit, father Solomon Wilhoit. We have much lore about Emanuel Willhoit who fought for the wrong side of the Civil War, was a prisoner of war, and escaped. If you are interested, contact me.
Again, thanks.
Great site. Are you related to my Father Berch Reid Wilhite jr and his father Berch Reid Wilhite Sr from Chattanooga Tennessee. Sr was born in around 1900 and jr 1923.
Thanks

Just trying to track down the family geneology, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
My daughter is a Wilhite and the only thing that I had been told is that her father's grandparents moved from Missouri to Arizona. I found it interesting that James Wilhite moved to Missouri in 1815. Makes a person wonder if they could be related some how.
Thanks, wish we could find out more information on this subject for my daughter.

Great Web Site My great, great, great grandfather was Nicholas Yager, who married Eleanor Mattingly in Washington County, Ky. Nicholas Yager had four sons, James (my great, great grandfather) 1809 - 1880) married Nancy Hayden (1814 - 1912); John Baptist Yager (1803 - 1886) married Elizabeth Ryan; Francis Elijah Yager (1807 - 1863) married Elizabeth Simms and Joseph Yager. All but Joseph migrated from Washington County Kentucky to Illinois. James and John Baptist lives in Hancock County, Illinois. James and Nancy buried in old Catholic Cemetery in Hancock County and John Baptist buried in LaHarpe Cemetery. Francis Elijah migrated to Monroe County, Missouri. Nicholas Yager was son of Cornelius Yager and Elizabeth Gaar Fisher. Goes back to Nicholas Yager, Germanna Colonist in 1717.
I am very impressed with the design of your web page. It has a clean professional look. Very easy to navigate.
I am related to many of these people from Saline and Howard County, Missouri.
Thank you for all the valuable information contained here. F.D. Liggett
Problems in getting names of children. I have for Matthias and Mary Ballenger: John, Tobias, Jacob, Lewis and Joel. John married Lucy Stapp.I have those children. Then Matthais and Mary Ballenger's Joel married Mary Wilhoite d of Tobias Wilhoite and Catherine ?. One of their children Reynolds Wilhoite married Lucy Towles. I need the names of the children of Joel and Mary Wilhoite other than Reynolds Wilhoite. To then complicate matters a grandson of John Wilhite and Lucy Stapp (Norville)married Joel's granddaughter Almira Elmira Mary Wilhoite. My computer doesn't like all the names being grandparents of Matthias and Mary Ballenger twice and Tobias and Catherine.. When Almira Mary Wilhoite of Reynolds and Lucy Towles then married Norville of Tobias and Nancy Margaret Ellis it gets plain stubborn and I lose count. I need some help here in getting this worked out.

Conrad Wilhite witnessed a will of Adam Broyles in 1782.

Getting ready for a family reunion this weekend. Found your website when looking
for more to share. Your history is my history, and is put into very emotionally
understandable, day-to-day living narrative that should place their lives into a
colorful memory for the elders as well as the children. Thank you.
As to this passage:
"Conrad Wilhite witnessed the following will in Washington Co, TN: Adam Broyles,
19 April, 1782 sick of body; to Moses Broyles, my first born son, land, out of
that bought of Joseph Ballard, ..."
I descend from the Nicholas Blankenbaker/Ambrose Garriott line, and also from
someone name Ballard from NC. Has anyone ever researched to find out anything
about this Joseph Ballard? I'm looking for my 3rd G-Grandmother, Sarah Ballard,
born around the turn of the 19th century. Married Hiram Vaught, b 1797 in Blount
Co. TN. His parentage is in question. Either Hans Paulus Vaught from the
Germanna area, or Christian Vaught, probably not related to anyone at Germanna.

My father has always said that we were "Black Dutch". His grandfather was called
"Dutch"Farmer and migrated from Pennsylvania to Ironton, Ohio, and on into
eastern Kentucky where he worked in the coal mines. The description of the
Wilhite's that were brought into Virginia by the Governor match all of the men
in my families description; that being, tall, black hair, very blue eyes, and
fair skin. We live very close to the Melungeon community of Sneedville, Hancock
County, Tennessee, and I have always been very curious about them but never
realized that they were also referred to as "Black Dutch". I always thought we
were really Dutch (German).
I found all the information very interesting and appreciate the hard work you
have done researching and posting to the website. If you have any information
that might help me locate any Jewish ancestors please let me know.
Thanks!!!

Hello Cousins! My mother is Agnes Cott, who wrote the book upon which this website is based. I formatted and typed it for publication.
My mother died in January, 2004, and is buried at Fish Creek Church Cemetery in eastern Saline Co., MO. I was interested to see the entry from Dan Cott in OK, saying he is the great-grandson of James Otho Cott. Since I'm Otho's granddaughter, I'm very interested is how Dan is connected. Jack, Luella, Lora, Leon, Lonnie? Must be pretty close. Also was interested to see Travis Cott's entry.
I remember Uncle Wood and Aunt Lizzie very well, and have met all of Hugh's generation, both Wood's and Yaeger's children.
My email is cottm2001@yahoo.com if anyone would like to contact me. I'm also curious about why John Ryland would have a photo of Lonnie Cott. He is my uncle and never had any children.
